2024 INTER-DISTRICT LEAGUE

The 2024 fixtures for the Yorkshire Inter-District Veterans league have been published on Bowlsnet.

There’s yet another addition to league structure with Aire and Wharfe joining the league from 2024. This follows their entry to the Hickson Trophy in 2023 and a very creditable semi-final place after defeating both Wakefield and Castleford in the qualification round.

The entry of Aire & Wharfe brings to a total 9 districts competing in this increasingly competitive league. Leeds joined the league in 2023 having dropped out pre-covid and winning the title in their first year after more than 20 years as ‘also rans’. Will Aire & Wharfe make the same impact?

9 teams means an extended season with teams having one bye. Huddersfield have a bye on 6 September, the last date of the season! Whether that’s an advantage or disadvantage remains open to doubt but what isn’t in doubt is that we’ll have to have some good results and have a good lead before the last round to go one better than runners-up in 2023.

The fixture list for Huddersfield is:

3rd May Huddersfield v. Skipton
17th May Huddersfield v. Leeds
31st May Huddersfield v. Castleford
14th Jun Huddersfield v. Halifax
28th Jun Huddersfield v. Wakefield
26th Jul Huddersfield v. West Riding
9th Aug Huddersfield v. Bradford
23rd Aug Huddersfield v. Aire & Wharfe
