20 Aug AN ALL KIRKHEATON EVENT
HVBA’s Sub-team Knockout between Kirkheaton Con B and Kirkheaton C&BC B will be played at Broad Oak BC on Thursday 21 August, 1.30 pm with practice starting at 12.45 pm. There’s some local rivalry at stake and also some players with split loyalties that play for both clubs so we’re in for a cracking afternoons bowling.
The Sub-team Knockout is another of the HVBA’s hidden gems, a competition solely for teams in the lower divisions and average bowlers rather than the elite. That’s not to say there won’t be any star bowlers in either team, they could be up and coming bowlers or bowlers who are perhaps not playing at the level when they were at their peak.
The competition has been sponsored by Croftlands Care Home for many years and is traditionally held at Broad Oak. We hope to be able to welcome some of the residents and staff of the home to enjoy the spirit of bowling in the pleasant surroundings of Broad Oak who always put on a magnificent spread for them. I’m sure they would also like spectators and players popping in to say hello and having a chat with them.
The Con team have a handicap of 23 and the C&BC team are on 27 so not much between them in the form book, the only certainty is that the trophy will be going to Kirkheaton.
