HUDDERSFIELD EXIT BUT AVENGE SKIPTON DEFEAT

The qualifying rounds of the Hickson Trophy were played out in Sheffield on 4 July. Huddersfield were drawn against Skipton in the first round playing at Swallowsnet and avenged their defeat the previous Friday winning 233-187. Meanwhile two of the big guns, Leeds and West Riding were battling it out at Hollinshead Park with Leeds coming out victors to go through to play Huddersfield at Catcliffe. The result at Catcliffe didn’t go Huddersfield’s way and Leeds went through to the semi-final.

Refreshments are available at all the venues and it’s a great advert for veterans bowling at it’s very best, well worth the trip to Sheffield. We’ve new kids on the block with Harrogate and East Coast qualifying for the first time, are we seeing a seismic shift away from the heartlands of the sport?
