Julie Fuller Insights

The 6-man Julie Fuller has been a fixture in the league’s calendar for a quarter of a century. The competition itself originates with the creation of the 6-man League and, as so often, gained the invaluable support of a founding sponsor. In this case it was Julie and Dennis Fuller of Hemplow who kindly stepped in and for many years Julie herself attended the finals to present the winner’s trophy that carries her name. She saw many winners, but none so often as the Longwood team that took the prize a total of five times between 2014 and 2019. Other serial winners have been Shepley, Netherton Con and Syngenta who have all taken home the trophy three times. We were privileged to have the sponsorship of Julie and Dennis for many years, but these things cannot and are never expected to run indefinitely. They sponsored the competition for the final time in 2022 after which it was Frank Greenwood (pictured above with 2025 Winners Broad Oak) who stepped forward as the new sponsor and through his generosity this competition has continued ever since. Frank was keen to retain the Julie Fuller name which is familiar to us all and so woven into our history. So, thanks to Julie, Dennis and now Frank we look forward to the upcoming 2026 Julie Fuller Competition and may the best team win.
