IN the midst of the loss of online records kept on the bowlsnet system it was business as usual on the green with all competitions going ahead as planned.
The first team final, hosted by Kirkheaton Con and kindly sponsored by Tony Butterfield, saw repeat of the 2024 Team Knock-out Final that Longwood had won 145-108 against Cowcliffe.
It could very much be argued that in the 2025 Final Cowcliffe put up a much better showing before losing out Longwood 115-135.
The singles, played first, resulted in two wins for the Cowcliffe team. Juhn Burnett recorded a 21-18 success over David Walkden and Graham Sigsworth finished a 21-12 winner against fellow Inter-District player Ian Briggs.
Longwood had “first-half” winners in Andrew Wike who had a 21-8 success over Derrick Hewitt while Rob Dickinson recorded a 21-17 win against David Pollard – all four of those bowlers are Inter-District bowlers for Huddersfield and showed the quality on show in the Team KO Final.
After the break Longwood extended their 72-67 interval advantage by winning all three matches in the pairs to take the first team trophy of the season.
