24 Aug LOWER DIVISIONS TROPHY

It’s the business end of the season and finals are coming thick and fast, this week it’s the Lower Division Trophy at Outlane Bowling Club on Friday, starting 1.30 pm.

The Lower Divisions Trophy doesn’t get much coverage but it’s a unique competition for players playing in the Divisions 3, 4 and 5 so you won’t see the big guns in the line up. Nevertheless there is a Huddersfield Merit Winner and a current and ex Inter-District player in the line-up.

The current holder is Chris Sykes of Slaithwaite C&BC who isn’t able to defend his title this year as Slawit are now in Division 2. The line up for the quarter finals is:

C Longbottom (7) Marsh Libs  vs  J Bloomer (Scr) Almondbury Libs

K Broadbent (7) Kirkheaton Cons  v  J Turney (7) Marsh Libs

A Wike (3) Huddersfield Recreation  vs  D Peacock (6) Milnsbridge BC

J Pix (5) Springwood  vs  A Broughton (5) Almondbury Libs

There’s no rain and some sun in the forecast and it would be great to get some support around the Outlane bowling green. Outlane have been supporting this competition for quite a few years now and they too deserve your support. Perhaps there may be some scouts and talent spotters from the Division 1 and 2 teams!
