29 May ROUND 3 v AIRE & WHARFE

It’s already Round 3 of the Yorkshire Inter-District league and not yet the end of May! With nine teams in the league and a couple of Fridays taken up with the Hickson Trophy the matches come thick and fast.

Friday 30 May brings Aire & Wharfe to Brockholes Bowling club whilst our away team travels to Rufford Park, Yeadon, start times 1 pm. Aire & Wharfe entered the league last year and finished sixth in the league, one place behind Huddersfield which was a very creditable performance and they’re not a team to be taken lightly. Huddersfield are in a good position in the league after two stiff matches against Leeds and Halifax but it’s now time to start putting some big scores on the board so it’s a crucial match.

The home team is John Bloomer, Andy Carter, Mick Chapman, Robert Dickinson, Stephen Haigh, Graham Sigsworth, Ray Whitwam and Andy Wike. Reserves Mark Richardson, Peter Kain. Non-playing captain Frank Greenwood. Manager David Armitage.

The away team is Dave Pollard, Tim Poulter, Peter Hopkinson, Steve Mallinson, Dave Sykes, Edwin Haigh, Derek Hewitt and Garry Senior. Reserves Roger Stopford and Adrian Cooper whilst the captain Malcolm Gilbert is in the unusual position of being non-playing.
