25 Mar Weston Park Trophy

On Saturday 28th March the Weston Park Trophy takes place at Brockholes Bowling Club. This season opening event raises funds for the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity in memory of Paul Sykes. Through donations, raffle sales and food sales last year’s event raised over £700 taking the total raised to date to over £10,000.  This year’s event will also mark the unveiling of a plaque in memory of David Sykes, Paul’s father, who sadly passed last July. David was a stalwart of the Veterans League, known to many through his tireless work as Competition and League Secretary over many years. It is the League’s privilege and pleasure that a hvba plaque in memory of David will be unveiled on Saturday by his daughter Tina. This will take place during the interval, approximately mid-day. All are welcome to be there, share the moment, enjoy some first class bowling and most importantly support the fundraising for Weston Park Hospital and the fantastic work they do.
