07 Jul 12th July Final – don’t miss one of the year’s biggest events
The Hickson Trophy is an annual team competition in which all the Yorkshire regions compete together with our near neighbours Barnsley and Sheffield. The event has become an annual celebration of Veteran’s bowling and its scale requires venues with two greens. It is hosted on a rotating basis and this year it is Bradford’s turn. Each team consists of twelve Over 60’s bowlers and this year for the first time teams are able to include women as well as men.
Thirteen teams competed in the first round group games on Friday 5 July where three groups of four teams played on a round robin basis. The winners from each round go on to play title holders West Riding who have a bye through to the final on 12 July. The final follows the same round robin format as the group stages and is a fantastic opportunity to see some of Yorkshire’s finest bowlers in action.
Joining West Riding in the final next week are:
Group 1 winners Sheffield who eliminated Huddersfield, Barnsley and Harrogate.
Group 2 winners Halifax who eliminated Bradford, Skipton and Castleford.
Group 3 winners Leeds who eliminated East Coast, Aire & Wharfe, and Wakefield.
The final takes place on Friday 12th July, 10:00am at
