15 Apr 2022 YEAR BOOK
Most clubs have now received their year books and we’re receiving some very favourable comments about the new fixture format which we appreciate. The clubs yet to collect their copies are Crosland Moor, Elland C&BC and Marsh Libs who know who to contact to arrange collection.
We are trying to breath new life into a publication that is sadly disappearing in other leagues due to the cost and the fact that many bowlers use Bowlsnet as their ‘bible’. The HVBA are in a different position to most leagues in as much that many of our bowlers are in the older generation and not very internet savvy so we have to cater for those that aren’t. We also have to consider giving coverage to our very generous sponsors and advertisers who deserve some exposure.
Print costs have increased substantially in the last 12 months and the new format has also increased the cost so it’s important that the Management Committee know your views which you can express via this website or via your club reps so the future of the publication can be discussed at the October general meeting.
These are some of the comments we’ve received:
I think you have done very well with the handbook / diary this year. I am sure many bowlers will find it a useful record of their season as well as having all the information required.
Just to report that we are getting very good feedback from our members regarding the format of the new handbooks.
Well done to those involved.
Received the yearbooks today. Just thought I’d let you know how much I prefer the new format, very clever and practical.
I have now received my year book or should I say my Bowling Diary 2022 and would just like to say this is the first one I have ever found useful and have spent half of today filling it in. Not just HVBA fixtures but my other commitments.
Just to say the new layout is great. The feature to log all my games on a weekly page is much better than my calendar. Also convenient reminders of all competitions. I will now use it weekly instead of just leaving it on a drawer. Well worth a £1
The authors will recognise their words which are very much appreciated. We might be oldies running the association but we can still innovate!
