2024 Over 70s Winner Mick Cox – Full results and picture gallery.

Congratulations to Mick Cox of Lockwood Con. our winner of the 2024 Over 70s final today. Mick was presented with his trophy and winners cheque by hvba President Richard Armitage. You will notice Mick came well prepared with microphone in hand to thank everyone involved and, importantly, encourage an orderly migration to the bar.

There was a great turnout, the weather held off and everyone was rewarded with some excellent bowling. While always a favourite on his home green (though with a handicap accordingly adjusted) it was not a walk in the park for Mick Cox today. Very close games in both the quarter and semi final rounds could have gone either way. Mick Wenzel meanwhile was carving his own path with some truly impressive bowling. This continued into the final and in the early stages it was looking like Mick Cox had another battle on his hands, but just when he needed it he found another gear and was able to open up a comfortable lead to the finishing line. Well done Mick and everyone else in reaching today’s finals.

Many thanks again to Ray Tunnacliffe our referee and a big thank you to all at Lockwood Con. for hosting and sponsoring todays competition.
