BCGBA RETURN TO PLAY

The BCGBA issued a document at 3 pm today on Step 1 of the return to play. This is an 8 page document that needs consideration by all clubs and all leagues bearing in mind we have a start date of Monday 29 March for outdoor sports. Clubs also need to carry out a risk assessment as you would expect to ensure a safe return to our sport.

The keypoints made by Mark Bircumshaw, the CEO of the BCGBA are:

  • To play under the sport exemption  (organised sport) clubs, leagues and associations need to be members of the Governing body.
  • Accepted formats are listed on pages 3 and 4
  • No Spectators are permitted at present.
  • Travel you need to follow national guidance, still listed as minimise time spent outside  (rule of 6 and 2 households)
  • All previous hygiene guidance remains in place.
  • Clubrooms can be open for use of toilets and collecting of equipment only in Step 1.
  • A revised risk assessment is attached , existing risk assessments should be reviewed and updated in line with the road map.
  • Visiting teams should be made aware of any restrictions at your club.

Many clubs already have plans to open next Monday but it’s imperative that they now consider these latest guidelines. The late publication of these documents is due to HM Gov only issuing guidelines to governing bodes in the middle of this week and it takes sometime to digest the data and pull out the salient points for our sport.

HVBA Club reps have already received copies of the documents. Anyone requiring further documents please use the Contact page and we’ll email you copies.
