08 May THE GREAT DEBATE
To continue to have a Year Book or not to have a Year Book, that is the question!
All clubs should now have their supply of 2021 Year Books and have distributed them to players. Do you find them useful? The club reps who attended the distribution at Lindley Bowling Club had mixed views about them, some thought they were largely obsolete now with much of the information on this website or Bowlsnet whilst quite a few clubs admitted to being not very internet savvy and valued the publication. Whilst that situation exists it’s likely that we’ll continue to publish the booklet in some form.
As I’m a printer (but not of this publication) I’m reluctant to see the loss of another publication but I’m not a Luddite and think we have to move with the times. If the association decides that we need to publish a Year Book in 2022 I have one or two ideas how we can make it more useful for all bowlers whether they’re internet savvy or not.
Your views would be welcome as no doubt this will be discussed when we have our next half-yearly meeting. How about registering to use our Forum and air your views?
Many thanks to Bill Blackburn and Lindley Bowling Club for organising a very convivial alfresco distribution.
