HVBA are proud to be hosting the Hickson Trophy on Friday 9 July. The seven teams represent the Inter-District squads of Barnsley, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, Sheffield, Skipton and West Riding. Teams consist of 12 players.

The quarter finals start at 10 am and are being held at Holmfirth where Halifax play Sheffield, Milnsbridge where Barnsley play Huddersfield and Thongsbridge where Bradford play Skipton. The winners of the Holmfirth and Milnsbridge matches will go through to the semi-final on Meltham No.2 green. The other semi-final will be West Riding who had a bye in the first round and they’ll play the winners of the Thongsbridge match at Crosland Moor, these matches will start approximately 1.30 pm.

The final will be played on Meltham No.1 green and start approximately 5.30 pm.

Bob Haigh has promised to be the official photographer during the day and Dougie Mellor has agreed to do the presentation after the final. Spectators complying with Covid regulations would be welcome at all the greens. Raffle prizes for the final would be welcome from clubs and bowlers alike.

Barnsley are the current holders of the Hickson Trophy more accurately called Yorkshire Veterans Male One Day Competition. The venues for the event are rotated between the districts so it could be a few years before Huddersfield host the event again.
