TIGHT GAMES AND FIGHTBACKS IN OVER 70’s FINAL

The over 70’s final took place at Lockwood Con on Thursday 27 April and was won by Graham Hirst of Lowerhouses.

3 of the 7 games were won to all but whilst there were a couple of outstanding fightbacks.

Graham Hirst, the new Over 70’s champion came back from 16-8 down against the 2022 champion Eddie Haigh playing on his own green. Graham Howe of Longwood BC came back from 18-8 down to beat John Beaumont of Skelmanthorpe Windmill to all but only to lose to Graham Hirst in the semi-final. Both the scorecards have been submitted to our General Secretary John Pearman for entry into the Fightback of the Month competition.

This was the second competition final early in the season following the Lower Divisions Trophy earlier in the month which was blighted by constant drizzle whilst the Over 70’s final was completed in dry but cold weather.
