18 Jul John Stoner reaches 90th milestone

Congratulations to John Stoner of Denby Dale Bowling Club who this week was presented with a 90th Achievement Certificate. John is a recent convert to crown green bowling, having taken up the sport three years ago when he stopped playing golf. Pictured is John receiving his certificate from hvba President Frank Greenwood at Clayton West, where Denby Dale have made ‘home’ for the season. On meeting John, Frank was intrigued by John’s accent which he could tell was definitely not from ‘up ere’. John explained he’d recently moved to Denby Dale from Barnsley, but before that he’d moved north to Barnsley when the firm he worked for relocated. That’s certainly Yorkshire and hvba’s gain, and we’ll be wishing John many more enjoyable years bowling with us.
