CALL FOR ENTRIES

The grand finale of our season is the John Hoyle Memorial Trophy and 2023 will the third running of the competition sponsored by the Hoyle family in memory of one of our hardest working Presidents and General Secretary. It is also an HVBA community project where all proceeds are donated to Kirkwood Hospice.

The competition will again be hosted by Huddersfield Recreation at their Moldgreen Con bowling green with preliminary rounds and the final all staged at the same venue. The preliminary rounds are scheduled for Thursday 28 September and the final eight playing the following day.

The inaugural competition replaced our Elite Players trophy and has previously been for current and ex Inter-District players. This year we’re ringing the changes to make it a celebration of all that’s good with the veterans bowling scene. We’re opening up the competition to all Division 1 and 2 players in the 10-man league, inter-district players and members of Huddersfield Recreation who have fond memories of playing alongside John at the previous home of Canalside and earlier clubs Syngenta, Zeneca and ICI.

Entry fees will be £2.50 and which is donated to Kirkwood Hospice. It will now be run as a handicap which will  accommodate all levels of entrant so if you fancy pitting yourself against an inter-district player enter on this site’s Competition Page and enjoy a days competitive bowling before the sun sets on our season.
