14 Sep ALL CHANGE FOR THE JOHN HOYLE TROPHY
The association has reluctantly had to change both the venue and dates of the John Hoyle Memorial Trophy to allow remedial work on the green at Moldgreen Con/Huddersfield Recreation.
This event has become the finale to our season and has been played at Huddersfield Recreation in previous seasons as John was instrumental in negotiating the move from Canalside to Moldgreen of his former club. In his later years John also played for Brockholes Bowling Club who have kindly stepped in to hold the final on Friday 6 October. The preliminary rounds are now to be played at Thongsbridge Bowling Club on Thursday 28 September, the original date.
Entry to the competition has been broadened this year and so as well as Inter District players it is also open to anyone playing in Divisions 1 and 2 of the 10-man league plus as usual John’s ex colleagues playing at Huddersfield Recreation. Entry fees are £2.50 per player and these are donated to Kirkwood Hospice due to the generous sponsorship of the competition by the Hoyle family. Huddersfield Recreation are also donating £100 to our Hospice fund and the association already have two small donations to add to the fund.
Raffle prizes will be welcome for the final day as would any cash donations to help us smash the £500 mark for the event.
