Competition Secretary vacancy

Can you help run our Veterans Association?

The Association currently has a vacancy for an individual, or alternatively two people in a ‘job share’, to act as Competition Secretary next year.

We have to fill this position if singles and pairs competitions are to take place in 2024.

The Competition Secretary(s) oversees a total of seven individual and pairs competitions plus four team knock-out finals during the course of the season. Responsibilities include:
  • Promoting Competitions (mainly via email and news items on this website)
  • Collection of entry fees
  • Attending finals (along with the other committee members)
  • Being part of a working group that sets handicaps
  • Arranging availability of greens with clubs (essentially ensuring clubs get good notice)
  • Allocation of entrants to specific venues
  • Updating Bowlsnet and this website with competition information (this could alternatively be arranged through other committee members if it wasn’t someone’s forte)
  • Attending Management Committee meetings and supporting the general running of The Association
There is a £600.00 honorarium per year (£300 per person on a job share basis).

If you or someone you know is interested and would like more information please contact hvba General Secretary John Pearman johnpearman@gmx.com
