13 May START OF 2026 CAMPAIGN
Huddersfield start their 2026 campaign with a mountain to climb already. With nine teams in the league each team has a bye and Huddersfield started the 2026 season with a Bye and looking at the table there were some big scores for what we believe will be the main contenders for honours this year.
It’s a new look for both the Home and Away teams. The Home team is now captained by Graham Sigsworth and Frank Greenwood has moved to Manager of the squad on a temporary basis. Graham has added several new players to his squad which is already formidable as they were the best Home team in 2025.
2025 was a poor season for the Away team finishing 3rd bottom of the Away teams table which contributed to a lacklustre 4th place finish for Huddersfield. The Away team, captained once more by Malcolm Gilbert, have added strength to their squad in good measure and there are 3 newcomers to their first game at Castleford.
The Home team venue is at Lockwood Conservative club and a reminder that matches start at 1 pm. The squads are, in no particular order:
Home: Graham Sigsworth, Stephen Haigh, Andy Carter, Mick Chapman, Robert Spencer Snr, Andrew Wike, Rob Dickinson, Ray Whitwam, Reserves are: Adrian Cooper, Martin Skuse, Pete Fuller.
Away, playing at Allerton Bywater WF10 2BP: Malcolm Gilbert, David Pollard, Tim Poulter, Steve Mallinson, Stuart Greaves, Andy Lumb, Ian Ross, Edwin Haigh. Reserve Derek Hewitt. Not available are Garry Senior and Steve Haigh.
It would be great to see supporters at both venues helping to get Huddersfield off to a resounding start against Castleford.
