A GROUP OF OPPORTUNITY?

The 2026 Hickson Trophy is being hosted by West Riding and is set to return to the round robin format.

Leeds, as the current holders, have a bye to the final on 10 July and Huddersfield are in Group 2 with Wakefield, Sheffield and the East Coast on Friday 3 July. The host clubs are still to be announced but each group are likely to be playing at a club with 2 greens starting at 10 am and giving each team a full days bowling with 12 person teams playing the other three members of the group. These are magnificent sporting days for the bowlers most of whom will have three games against top representative bowlers.

Sheffield look to be the stiffest rivals but have under performed the last two years and East Coast can’t be underestimated as they reached the semi-finals in 2025. Neither of these teams are playing in the league so will be unknown opponents before the actual day. Only one team qualifies from the group for the final day.
