15 Dec ANOTHER MYSTERY

This photo has been found in the Armitage family archives and we only have one name and that’s our father Ronnie who is second left partially hidden. What we know is that there are two ten-man teams playing in an HVBA competition, presumably a final. The great minds on our committee have deduced that the President is probably J A Clayton who was president 1992-3, judging by the number of bars on the chain of office. Would be interesting to have that confirmed.

One of the two teams is ICI/Syngenta/Zeneca, the former names of Huddersfield Recreation, but who is the other? Having looked through the HVBA records the only time Ronnie’s team appeared as winners was 1998 when Zeneca won the Sub-team KO but that’s probably too late for Ronnie to be playing so that indicates they were runners-up but to whom? The writer seems to remember him talking fondly of The Bistro so perhaps that’s because the sponsors gave both finalists a slap-up meal in their restaurant and he’d certainly be up for that.

The final conundrum is what green?
