Friday 6 September, 1.30pm at Brockholes Bowling Club.

The Bistro competition is one of the HVBA’s most popular team competitions with all teams in the 10-man league starting the long road to the final early in our season. This years finalists, Longwood BC and Kirkheaton Con have won five matches to reach the final.

The format for the competition is 5 pairs and the captains toss a coin and the winner has jacks 1, 3 and 5.

The origin of the competition goes back to 1982 and originally sponsored by Johnny’s Nite Spot, a popular night club and restaurant in the Beast Market, Huddersfield and the Bistro name has stuck with it even though it’s had numerous sponsors between 1982 and the current sponsors, Brockholes Bowling Club.

Longwood are the current holders and defending their title against Kirkheaton Con who may have won the title before in 1989 but our records at https://www.hvba.co.uk/bistro-shield/ don’t distinguish between the Con or the C&BC.

The weather forecast is good for the day but whether it’s wet or dry it’s always a fabulous occasion.
