03 Sep BRADFORD vs HUDDERSFIELD
The final round of the Inter-District league takes place on Friday 4 September with a 1 pm start time. Huddersfield are in fourth place in the league on 195 points behind Bradford on 223. If Huddersfield are to avoid a second fourth place finish they have a mountain to climb being 28 points behind but there are 56 points at stake in the match. We started off the campaign with a 45-11 win so it is possible, but Bradford will be a much tougher nut to crack than Castleford were on that day.
Huddersfield have chosen Lowerhouses once again as their home venue which has proved a successful venue on the previous three occasions. The team in no particular order is Stephen Haigh, Bob Dickinson, Ray Whitwam, Graham Sigsworth (captain), John Bloomer, Adrian Cooper, Martyn Skuse and Mick Chapman.
The away team play at The Harold Club BD12 0UD. The team is Malcolm Gilbert (captain), Garry Senior, Steven Haigh, Ian Ross, Andy Lumb, Edwin Haigh, Ian Ross and Dave Pollard. Reserves Derek Hewitt and Tim Poulter.
The 2026 title is all but in the bag for the West Riding team who have finished their campaign with a 53 point lead over Leeds. Leeds play Skipton and are sure to give it a shot but they have to win all 16 individual games and win the aggregate by 65 or over at both venues. Winning by 64 would give Skipton 2 points due to the quirks of the margin system of awarding aggregate points used by the league.
