30 Jun Congratulations to Paul Harburn our May Fight-back winner.

With holidays getting in the way we are a little late announcing the result but many congratulations to Paul Harburn who is our May winner in the Well Bowled Fight-back of the Year competition.

It was another tough job for our judge Nick Blackburn of Well Bowled who after great deliberation selected Paul for a gritty away-from-home performance battling over 31 ends to recover from 5-14 down for a 21-19 win. It provided a nerve jangling finish for his 10-man Meltham team in a tight 1st Division clash as Paul also rescued an extra point by levelling the aggregate score. As the May winner Paul goes forward to the end of year final judging for the Well Bowled Fight-back of the Year award.

Many thanks again to Nick Blackburn of Well Bowled for being our judge. And we’ve received some great entries for the June round which he’ll be wrestling with soon – look out for the next announcement.

Every month a ‘Fight-back of the Month’ award will recognise the player(s) who have made the most impressive recovery to win a game. Entry is open to everyone participating in a hvba game be that league or knock outs, six or ten man, pairs or singles – every hvba competitive game is eligible.

To enter players (or captains/team mates with the players permission)  simply need to email a copy/photo of the original match day score card, details above and on our Competition Entry pages. Please make sure the player names, club and match date details are all clear to read. Entries must be received within 3 days of playing and will be entered into the monthly award competition for the month in which the game took place.

Each month the winning person/pair will be determined on not only the deficit overturned, but also the circumstances such as who were the opposition, was it at home, away or on a neutral ground, the criticality of the game/match, handicaps etc. Winners will be announced each month on the hvba website so keep a look out for updates throughout the playing months.
