A great days bowling yesterday at Lowerhouses BC who hosted and sponsored the over 70’s pairs cup finals day.

Denis Garner and Paul Winterburn from Netherton Con are the new champions after defeating John Abbot and Peter Kain from Lockwood 21-17 in an exciting final.

The day kicked off with the quarter finals which sadly was cut to 3 matches following a no show from Brockholes pairing Richard Walker and Les Chadwick. However this round featured a match that will surely be a contender for the Fight Back of the Year award between Neil Hinchliffe/Geoff Chadwick and Allen Chapman/Steven Addy. Neil and Geoff raced into an 18-8 lead when Allen and Steven moved into top gear and won the next 7 ends to eventually win 21-18.

I would personally like to thank the members of Lowerhouses that helped me greatly with scoring/measuring/providing refreshments and Ray Tunnacliffe for refereeing.
