29 Jul DISAPPOINTING RETURN TO THE INTER-DISTRICT FOR HUDDERSFIELD
Disappointing, or disastrous according to the Home team manager David Armitage in his report.
Disastrous day for the Huddersfield Inter-District teams in their latest match against West Riding. Only two winners home and away and losing both games by 20 points to 8. John Bloomer and Robert Dickinson winning at home whilst Tim Poulter and Roger Stopford won at Thornhill.
It’s probably the worst defeat Huddersfield have suffered since the league was formed and spoiled any chance of winning this years title. Can’t take anything away from West Riding who outplayed Huddersfield and were deserved winners. They are now clear favourites to win this years Grouse Trophy with Leeds, Bradford and Halifax chasing second place.
Halifax now lead Huddersfield by 7 points ahead of West Riding only 14 points behind with a game in hand of the leading pair. To get anything out of this season Huddersfield will be looking for a victory against Bradford in their next match on 9 August.
