04 Oct FINAL FINAL
It’s the final final of the veterans bowling season, the finale in fact!
Friday 6 October at Brockholes Bowling Club, 1.30 pm
This season has brought some changes to this competition, the entry requirements were relaxed and the entry fee reduced and it resulted in 31 entries, double what we had in 2022.
The preliminary rounds were held at Thongsbridge last Thursday and the 8 finalists include the current holder of the comp, Mick Cox as well as a host of new bowlers with two from Lindley Bowling Club – Peter Fuller and Tony Allen, Trevor Atkinson representing Huddersfield Recreation, three Clayton West Bowlers in Malcolm Gilbert, Stuart England and Tim Poulter plus Gary Foulkes who plies his trade with Waterloo and Wakefield in the inter-district league.

Our picture show’s John presenting a gift to the late Peter Armitage at the associations 50 year celebration, February 2020.
John’s family have increased their sponsorship and the prize money and there will be a big push to raise even more funds this year for Kirkwood Hospice.

Raffle prizes would be appreciated but there will of course be the standard English breakfast. Any surplus prizes will be raffled at the associations end of season presentation meeting on Monday 9 October.
No rain is forecast and the temperature looks to be rising for what we hope will be an Indian summer. Brockholes will be the ideal venue, they know how to host big occasions so let’s hope we have bumper crowd and we can pass last years donation of £400 to Kirkwood.
