26 Aug FINAL ROUND OF INTRIGUING CAMPAIGN
On Friday 1 September the destination of the Grouse trophy will be determined but it could go to any one of 5 times. A helicopter will be circling with the trophy between Halifax, Bradford, Leeds, Huddersfield and wherever West Riding call their home.
Leeds currently head the table on 214, Huddersfield 206, Halifax 204 (our next opponents), West Riding (the 2022 champions) on 197 and Bradford on 191. There are 56 points at stake which could swing the contest several ways with Leeds playing Bradford, Huddersfield and Halifax could share the points to neithers advantage and West Riding have the easiest looking tie against Skipton but can they close a 17 point deficit to newcomers Leeds?
Huddersfield’s final match against Halifax will be Away at Sowerby Tennis & B C., Green St. Peters Avenue. HX6 1HA and the team is T Butterfield, M Gilbert (c), D Hewitt, P Hopkinson, D Pollard, T Poulter, G Senior, R Stopford. Reserve: Edwin Haigh, Manager: A Sharpe.
And at Home at Marsh United the team is A Bamforth, J Bloomer, M Cox, R Dickinson, E Haigh, P Kain, G Sigsworth, R Whitwam, Reserve: B Gibson. Non Playing Captain F Greenwood. Manager: D Armitage.
Marsh United will be welcome hosts to what looks like an intriguing contest starting at 1 pm.
