16 Aug FRANK GREENWOOD 2022 CHAMPION

Frank Greenwood retained his Over 80’s crown on another sweltering day at Hemplow on Friday 12 August.

Three of 2021 semi-final line-up made it to the semi’s again in 2022, Mikey Wood from Brockholes being the newcomer to the party and he made his presence felt both on and off the bowling green. He pushed the 2021 champion all the way in the semi-final losing 20-21 to Frank Greenwood but around the green he was accompanied by a dozen or so very vociferous supporters from Brockholes.

The other semi-final went the way of Gordon Walker, beating Roy Sutton of Slaithwaite 21-15.

In a repeat of the 2021 final Frank Greenwood overcame Gordon Walker 21-11.

In presenting the prize on the day the writer thanked the hosts, Hemplow Bowling Club and the sponsors Pat and Alan Stephenson who had supported this competition for many years.
