Well two finals actually!

First we have the semi-finals of the over 80’s tournament. We have the current champion, and homester, Frank Greenwood off 2 versus Eddie Haigh off scratch in one semi and Trevor Sykes off 2 versus what must be our first Portuguese star bowler Manuel Martinho off 4.

Sandwiched between the semi-finals and final of the Over 80’s we have the Julie Fuller Trophy final between Netherton Con A and Thongsbridge C&BC A both off 2. Both are mid-table in Division 1 of the 6-man league. Both teams had very different routes to the final particularly the semi-finals where Netherton won by 20 whilst Thongsbridge drew the aggregate but progressed through on the number of winners rule. Frank Greenwood has taken over sponsorship of this tournament from Julie Fuller and if he’s recovered from his exertions against Eddie Haigh will present the trophy.

The Over 80’s final which has been sponsored for many years by Alan and Pat Stephenson will follow the Julie Fuller final.

We’re promised another warm sunny day for both contests so what better way is there to spend a Friday afternoon?
