05 Apr GREENHEAD PARK WITHDRAW 6-MAN TEAM

Greenhead Park have regrettably withdrawn their 6-man squad from Section B of the league. As there were 10 teams in the three sections it’s been decided that we would maintain the current league structures and not cascade this loss to Section 3. It does mean that teams in Section 2 will now have two byes during the season, or as Bowlsnet describes it [FREE].

The withdrawal also impacts on the Julie Fuller Trophy and four teams will be impacted and have byes. So that the four teams won’t be disadvantaged by playing one game less in the draw the impacted teams will be drawn against another such team as follows: Golcar C&BC  v  Skelmanthorpe A and Golcar Libs  v  Clayton West, the games to be played on a mutually agreed date at least one week before the quarter-final draw.

Whilst it’s disappointing to lose a team the reasoning is that Greenhead Park have agreed to loan players to the Oakfield 6-man squad whilst Oakfield have in turn loaned players to Greenhead Park’s 10-man squad. It’s good to see teams working together and without this agreement we may also have seen the withdrawal of a 10-man squad.
