GREENHEAD PARK

Our two bowling greens are set in the heart of the beautiful Greenhead Park. Although they look in place in their current setting they weren’t part of the original plan and only added in the 20th century.

The first green was planned in 1925 and opened in 1927 whilst the second green was visible on plans of the park dated 1932. After the second world war another green was muted indicating how popular the sport was in those times.

The club were one of the founder members of the veterans bowling association and were the first champions in 1970. This is undisputed but the archives of our association suggest it was only the Section 2 trophy. To find out the real reasons for this anomaly we may have to visit a medium!

The greens are open to members of the public and if you’d like to become a member of our club please contact Richard Pearcey on 01484 531708 or 07813 738162, or email richardpearcey@tiscali.co.uk.
