18 Aug HANDICAPS
We are now receiving entries for the John Hoyle Trophy which is the finale to our season. As announced earlier we have extended entries in an endeavour to make it a bumper event and we can finish on a high. In addition to present and past Inter-District squad members anyone playing in Divisions 1 and 2 of our 10-man leagues can enter as can members of Huddersfield Recreation many of whom were teammates of our late President and General Secretary.
To accommodate varying abilities of entrants the competition will now be a handicap. Our Individual Handicapping Guidelines are on this website https://www.hvba.co.uk/league-rules/ and page 73 of My Bowling Diary 2023 apply but because home team bowlers are allowed to enter the General rule 3 also applies except for entries from Huddersfield Recreation players on a handicap of 4.
The preliminary rounds are on Thursday 28 September and the final 8 will play on Friday 29 September all taking place at Huddersfield Recreations green at Moldgreen Conservative Club. Entry fees are our standard fee of £2.50 each.
Prize money is donated by the Hoyle family who will be present at the final. All entry fees for the comp are donated to Kirkwood Hospice as is the donation made by Huddersfield Recreation. There will be a bumper raffle on the Friday and other money raising events at the prelims in an attempt to push our donation above the 2021 and 2022 levels so please donate raffle prizes and dig deep when encouraged to do so. We already have some small donations to the Kirkwood fund raised at various comps in the summer.
