HUDDERSFIELD vs WEST RIDING

The next round of the Yorkshire Inter-District league is Friday 26 June when Huddersfield take on West Riding.

Whilst Huddersfield sat out the first round of the competition West Riding charged into an early lead and haven’t let up since, sitting proudly at the top of the table on 162 points from 4 games compared to Huddersfield’s 94 points from 3 games. The West Riding points per game figure is over 5 higher than their nearest rivals.

If Huddersfield are going to make a significant impact in the league in 2026 it has to start in this match.

The Home team under the captaincy of Graham Sigsworth have opted to play their match at Hemplow and the team in no particular order is Martin Skuse, Rob Dickinson, Adrian Cooper, Mick Chapman, Ray Whitwam, Andy Carter, Rob Spencer and Graham. Pete Fuller is reserve once again. Not available this week are Stephen Haigh and Andy Wike.

The Away team play at Cleckheaton Sports (bottom/back green) and have been asked to start at 11 am. It’s not known whether the early start is to avoid the midday heat or avoid the thunder storms forecast! The early start gives keen followers of the team the opportunity to catch both the home and away games! Malcolm Gilberts squad is as follows: Steven Haigh (making his debut), Steve Mallinson, Andy Lumb, Dave Pollard, Edwin Haigh, Stuart Greaves, Garry Senior and Ian Ross. Malcolm is the reserve.
