10 Jul HUDDERSFIELD WIN
Huddersfield played host yesterday 9 July to teams representing 7 areas in Yorkshire. Quarter finals were held at Holmfirth where Halifax beat Sheffield, Thongsbridge where Bradford beat Skipton and Milnsbridge where Huddersfield beat the holders of the trophy – Barnsley.
The quarter final winners then travelled to either Crosland Moor or Meltham. Huddersfield won Halifax by the narrowest of margins on Meltham No.2 green whilst West Riding, who had a bye in the quarter finals, beat Bradford to go through to the final.
The final of this 12-man team competition was held on Meltham No.1 green where Huddersfield were the victors over the West Riding team, The trophy was presented to Frank Greenwood as the Huddersfield team manager by Dougie Mellor who spoke eloquently about the foundations laid for veterans bowling by Robert Jackson.
