Guidance notes:
Submit requests in good time, preferably four or more days in advance of the date dispensation is required for.
Read the rules, be sure of which rules you are seeking dispensation for. The rules where dispensation is most commonly considered are 11g, 11h, 12d, 14b, 16b and 17h. (Note – this is by no means an exhaustive list)
Don’t leave any sections of the form incomplete, it may delay matters if you do. (Player’s email is optional, include if this is beneficial to the circumstances).
Give a full description of the competition/fixture. If it is a competition, name the competition, if the opponents are known name them. If it is a league fixture give full details – which league, which division and the opponents.
When completing the Reason/Circumstances ensure you provide as much information as possible to support the request.
Things to keep in mind:
In general, dispensations are more likely to be successful in relation to players returning from long term illness/injury.
Requests to allow players to play down for a lower team are highly unlikely to be successful regardless of circumstances.
Captains are expected to ensure squad members play sufficiently often in league games to meet any team competition qualifying criteria set out in the rules. This means checking player availability, particularly holidays, and planning ahead to ensure they have not just a team but also reserves qualified to play. This can mean compromising team selection in league games to make sure there are enough qualified bowlers. Requests for dispensation where a team has simply failed to account for holidays are least likely to be successful as it is not fair on those teams that get it right.
Requests for dispensation when alternative bowlers are available, such as someone playing up from a lower team, are unlikely to be successful.
