RING IN THE NEW

The HVBA wish all our member clubs and bowlers a happy new year and dare we hope for a very normal season?

David Sykes, our League and Comps secretary is gradually getting in all the team intentions with only a few outstanding for the 10 January deadline. If you’re one of the clubs who haven’t yet advised us of the teams you’ll be entering in 2022 please do so quickly.

Our next Management Committee meeting is on Monday 17 January when the league structures will be determined and we can start the process of creating fixtures for the new season.

Other things that will be on the agenda at the meeting will be nominations for the roles of President and Vice President as well as confirmation of the officer roles. Phil Warbrick of Honley Conservative Association has agreed to join the committee to work on the project to increase the numbers participating in our sport.

We’re hoping that by the AGM in February we’ll have more concrete plans in place helping clubs with recruiting. The HVBA have been instrumental in bringing 11 local leagues together to work together to organise recruiting and coaching and planning for events that we can publicise to attract new players across the piece to our game. We’re not expecting instant results but we’ll be making a long overdue start to a coordinated approach to promoting our sport. Any contributions to this project would be welcome.
