ROSEBOWL FINAL

Thursday 19 September, 1.30pm at Netherton Con.

The Rosebowl is the HVBA’s most coveted individual trophy. Initially called The Examiner Rosebowl and now the Peter & Judith Muff Rosebowl after the Examiners sports correspondent who did so much for bowling in Huddersfield, not only reporting on our sport but playing for both Meltham and Almondbury BC.

These days the comp is kindly sponsored by Paul Rangeley who’s father is former winner, as is a certain R Armitage from Springwood, but sadly not the writer!

Played since 1971, the second year of the formation of the HVBA, there’s some legendary names already on the trophy and on Thursday we have previous  winners, inter-district players and lower division players playing off an handicap of 6! You can see the honours board at https://www.hvba.co.uk/previous-winners/.

The weather forecast is good for the day but whether it’s wet or dry it’s always a fabulous occasion.
