24 Feb SAD LOSS OF PETER ARMITAGE

The death of Peter Armitage of Hemplow Bowling Club has been announced this morning. Peter will be well remembered by veteran bowlers as a very jovial character around the green.

Club reps and their guests will recall his very humorous speech at our Golden Jubilee event in February last year. He was guest of honour and had everyone rolling in the aisles with his stories of his bowling green exploits. His son Simon, the current poet laureate, quips that Peter had more column inches in the Examiner than he himself. This was no doubt due to his years scripting and acting in local drama circles.
