TARGET 500

This Friday, 30 September, eight of our top bowlers play in the John Hoyle Trophy and no doubt they’ll have but a single thought – lifting the trophy and pocketing the prize money generously donated by the Hoyle family. However, the Association have their eye on another figure – bettering the £500 donated to Kirkwood Hospice, the sum of all the proceeds of the day.
All the entry fees for the competition will be donated, as will £100 donated by Huddersfield Recreation. The proceeds of the customary raffle will also be donated so the more prizes we have hopefully the bigger the receipts. Last year there were many donations of £5 or £10 around the green which, with a little help from HVBA, boosted it to £500.
It’s the last competition of the season, our first full season after Covid, so let’s sign off with a large turnout supporting not only the players but also showing the Hoyle family what we as a bowling family thought of John. And dig deep, we’ll have donation forms on the back of the programme where you can record your details, your donation and elect to Gift Aid giving the Hospice a valuable extra 20% on top of your donation.
