18 Aug TEAM KNOCKOUT CHAMPIONS – GOLCAR LIBS A

The Team Knockout 2022 final went the way of Golcar Libs A who beat Lindley Libs A winning 126-105 including the plus 5 handicap that Lindley received.

The competition is the same format of the 10-man league with 3 pairs matches and 4 singles but the finalists won 4 knockout matches to reach the final.

The captains tossed to determine that the singles matches went on first and Golcar took a decisive lead of 35 into the pairs matches, winning 3 out of the 4 singles matches. At one point in the pairs it looked as though Lindley may claw their way back into contention as Richard Saunders and Barrie Morgan of Lindley beat Mick Chapman and Peter Ainley 21-8. However the remaining pairs soon put the bout beyond Lindley and went on to win the two other pairs.

Alan Hirst, our President thanked the hosts Lindley Bowling Club and Bill Blackburn who sponsored the final. He also paid credit to Peter Thornton the greenkeeper.
