07 Sep THONGSBRIDGE LOSE TWO VETERAN BOWLERS

Thongsbridge bowling club regret to announce the passing of two bowlers, both on Thursday 2 September after long illnesses. Alan Sanders and Patrick Riley last played in the 10-man Section 4 team of 2019.

Alan, aged 86 has been a stalwart of the club since his retirement from cricket in the late 1960’s. He has been a committee member and active in various roles in the club. He has played at the highest level, in the Subscription Cup in the Huddersfield League and also in the top ranks of the Colne Valley League and the Mirfield League as well as the our leagues.

Patrick was a recent convert to our game after retiring from a senior position at Lloyds Bank. He took to bowling very well and was looking forward to extending his game to the Huddersfield League in 2021 and a possible Section 1 bowler this year barring ill health.

They will both be sadly missed.
