26 Jul TRY BOWLING – GREENHEAD PARK, SUNDAY

This Sunday brings the culmination of much work by Huddersfield Bowls Development with an event in Greenhead Park, 12 – 5 pm when we’re hoping to attract lots of new bowlers to our sport.

The concept of the event and HBD started at our October 2021 general meeting where it was announced that we’d changed our Bye Laws charging the committee with developing our sport and helping clubs with recruitment. From that meeting Phil Warbrick stepped forward with his ideas of having qualified coaches teaching recruits to the game rather than it being a hit and miss affair when they turned up at clubs. The writer contacted most associations and leagues in the Huddersfield area which totalled 11 including the HVBA and they all agreed that something needed to be done to attract new bowlers to our sport and thus Huddersfield Bowls Development was formed.

If you know of anyone interested in trying the game ask them to come on down on Sunday afternoon to this unique event. Do your best to put the word around and help us get a good turn out, who knows some of the recruits could be playing in your teams in 2023! Many of the newly qualified coaches will be in attendance.
