08 Apr VETERANS BOWLING LEAGUE ADDS THE PREMIERSHIP TOUCH
THANKS to our friends at Denby Dale we now have an ‘early’ fixture on alternative weeks and a lunchtime fixture to boot!
All home matches of the Denby Dale 6-man team will start at 10:30am so they kicked off our season with a fixture against Thongsbridge C, a side that featured the Huddersfield Veterans Bowling Association’s President Richard Armitage.
Richard asked his captain Graham Helm if he could set the first jack in the 2024 season.
“The first matches seem to have been a long time coming, especially with the association deciding to start fixtures one week later than normal,” commented the President.
“Now that the fixtures are upon us we wish every player in our leagues good luck and hope that they enjoy their bowling.”
There was no luck for Richard who, on his first outing of the season lost 21-13 to Denby Dales John Robertshaw. Richard led 9-5 at one stage but fell away in the season opener.
“I found the speed of the green difficult to adjust to and John played the green better than I did,” said the President. “He was better than me on the day.”
