The final of the Julie Fuller Trophy took place on Friday 8 September at a new venue for this particular competition. Netherton Con and Thongsbridge A competed in what turned out to be a tightly run affair with only 5 points separating the victors Netherton Con from the vanquished Thongsbridge team.

Our picture shows the two teams of contestants mingling after the final presentation and epitomises the convivial nature of our sport.

The competition was inaugurated in 2021 by Julie Fuller and the family have sponsored the competition every year to 2022. The HVBA President Frank Greenwood took over sponsorship in 2023 and the final was moved to his home green of Golcar Central Liberal Club in recognition. The Over 80’s winner Eddie Haigh invaded the celebrations in what was a brilliant days bowling hosted by the Golcar club. Photos courtesy of Jeff Jacklin.
