Walter Pell has sadly passed away at the grand old age of 92.

He was a stalwart of the Marsh United 10 man B team as recently as last year, in addition to bowling in the clubs Colne Valley Evening League team. There weren’t that many that got the better of him especially on his own green, whether in pairs or singles.

Our pictures show Frank Greenwood, the Association President, presenting Walter with a Certificate of Achievement on the occasion of his 90th birthday when Marsh United played a league match against Lindley Bowling Club B, another of the clubs that Walter has been associated with where he played in their Brighouse Vets on Mondays. Frank received his own certificate several weeks later presented by the writer.

The funeral is at 2pm on Friday 8 August at St Philips Church, Birchencliffe, followed at 3pm at Parkwood Crematorium in Elland.
