19 Jan WE’RE ON THE UP
The Huddersfield Veterans Bowling Association can now announce that we have an increase of 5 teams competing for the 2022 season. We have lost a 6-man team from Oakfield Tennis and Bowling but some of their members are bowling elsewhere whilst Linthwaite Hall have re-joined our association fielding 1 x 10-man and 1 x 6-man team. Other new 6-man teams are Lockwood Con, New Mill, Lindley Libs and Greenhead Park. This is very positive news for our leagues and bowling in general.
Monday’s Management Committee meeting decided that Division 3 would be a suitable level for the new Linthwaite Hall team and Outlane BC, who finished 3rd bottom in 2021, have agreed to drop to Division 4, a gesture the committee greatly appreciated. The league structure is therefore 14 teams in Divisions 1 & 2, 12 teams in Divisions 3 & 4 and 10 teams in Division 5. That’s 26 games for the top two divisions and 22 for all the lower divisions. The teams in Division 5 will have extra games and play some teams 3 times.
In the 6-man Monday league Lockwood Con and Linthwaite Hall have been added to Division 1 making it a 12 team division. New Mill and Lindley Libs have been added to Division 2 and Greenhead Park added to Division 3 giving both divisions 10 teams. All the teams will have more games than in 2021 and our League Secretary is beavering away at the moment trying to get 22 games for all teams. The Julie Fuller Trophy will revert to a knockout format played on neutral greens.
The fixture lists will be released on Bowlsnet at 10 am on Friday 21 January.
